2 parts in 1 volume, 12mo, 18 leaves, pp. 351, 509. Imprimatur leaf before the title, title within double ruled border. Short (2 cm.) tear in C*8 without loss, a few other short marginal tears, paper a little browned, and some other minor marks and stains. Contemporary calf, rebacked, no free endpapers.
Second edition. A Civil War surgical manual, first published in 1648. The second and larger part contains The Art of Chirurgery, and the first part the Institutions and Aphorisms. Wing C6013. Russell, British Anatomy, 198. Blas Bruni Celli, Bibliografia Hipocrática, 820 and 821 (the part with the Institutions and the Aphorisms of Hippocrates did not appear in the first edition). The first two editions are rarely found; later editions were enlarged in format and provided with illustrations, and are more frequently seen, although many copies are in poor condition.
